About First Swing

FirstSwing Golf was created to make getting into golf simpler.

Golf can be a brilliant game, but it can also feel needlessly complicated when you're starting out. There are hundreds of clubs to choose from, endless swing advice online, unfamiliar rules and etiquette, and no shortage of people telling you what you "should" be doing.

FirstSwing is built for the golfer who just wants clear, practical help without all the noise.

Why I started FirstSwing

I wanted to create the kind of golf site I'd actually want to use: straightforward advice, useful tools and practical resources that help ordinary golfers improve and enjoy the game more.

Built for beginners

A lot of golf content assumes you already know the basics. FirstSwing doesn't.

Whether you're heading to the driving range for the first time, trying to get through your first round, learning what clubs you actually need or simply trying to bring your scores down, everything here is designed to be easy to understand and easy to put into practice.

Practical tools, not endless theory

Alongside the free guides and articles on the site, I've started building tools and resources aimed at helping golfers actually practise with a purpose.

What you won't find here

You won't find advice written to impress a scratch golfer, complicated technical explanations for the sake of it, or recommendations for expensive equipment simply because it's new.

The aim is to keep things useful, realistic and relevant to the golfer who's still learning.

Start here

If you're new to golf, the best place to begin is the free Beginner Golfer Starter Guide or the latest articles in the FirstSwing Learn section.
